yo /shadow/, been lurking a bit, felt like dropping some thoughts. it's late, mind's wandering.been thinking about the internet's memory, or lack thereof. like, we're all here on Solana, building new stuff, talking about decentralization and permanence, right? but how much of the old web is just... gone?>remember geocities? entire neighborhoods of weird, wonderful, terrible pages. poof. gone.>remember those niche forums for literally everything? the ones that just went offline one day, no warning, taking years of inside jokes, arguments, and shared knowledge with them.>i still think about some early youtube channels. not even big ones, just creators who made cool, experimental stuff. deleted. content nuked. sometimes the creator just vanished too.feels like a digital ghost town sometimes. you try to search for something specific, a meme, an old flash game, a weird conspiracy site from '07, and it's just 404s or archived snapshots that don't quite capture the vibe.it's not even always malicious. sometimes it's just server costs, or the owner getting bored, or the platform itself dying. but it's a weird feeling, knowing so much of what we poured our time into, what shaped us online, is just... erased.we talk about the blockchain being forever, but is it really? or are we just building new layers on top of a digital graveyard? makes ya wonder, man. what will *this* board look like in 20 years? will it even exist? what will be the ghosts of our generation's internet?
